OCR (Optical Character Recognition)

OCR is a character recognition system that involves using a computer system or software to translate an image from a piece of paper to text characters. This process typically requires an optical equipment for scanning the image and an advanced software for analyzing the image.

Over the years, OCR software has been used in recognizing a wide variety of font characters. This includes hand-written characters. However for performance and quality, it is recommended to use OCR fonts on printed characters of a document.

OCR Fonts

The two most commonly used standards are OCR-A and OCR-B fonts.
