It supports the Java Development Kit 1.6 (and onwards) and works out-of-the-box with Integrated Development Environments such as Netbeans and Eclipse.
The Java library uses the proven ConnectCode Barcode Fonts engine which is popular with many Fortune 500 companies. The engine neither depends heavily on the programming environment nor requires intensive graphics operations. Instead, a slight manipulation of existing text is usually sufficient to produce robust barcodes.

Barcode Software and Fonts package adds console application for generating barcodes in bulk
ConnectCode, a leading provider of barcode software and fonts, today announced the release of a new version of ConnectCode Barcode Fonts (v8.0). This new version adds an advance console application for creating barcodes in Windows Command Prompt or Shell Scripts. The application accepts inputs such as data to be encoded and barcode symbology as command line parameters. With this capability, external or third party tools can easily create professional barcodes by executing the console application and users will be able to integrate the barcode generation process into their enterprise workflow processes.
By allowing barcodes to be generated using a console application also offers several other advantages. Scripts can be created to generate barcodes with a running number to tag products at item level. The product numbers can also be specified in a text file for the console application to create barcodes in bulk.
Besides the console application, this new version also supports Human Readable Text of a barcode as embedded in the barcode font or as a separate independent object. For Embedded Human Readable Text, the barcode and text are embedded as a single entity that is simple to use and can be easily copied to other applications. For Independent Human Readable Text, the barcode and text are separate entities that can be sized and styled independently.
This version also provides significant updates to the existing Excel-Add In, Crystal Reports Formulas and Image Generator. The Encoder, .Net library and Excel VBA formulas of the GS1 Databar barcode also come with capabilities to automatically detect or generate the MOD 10 check-digit.

Software aids users in creating DataMatrix barcode in publishing tools and .Net applications

This is a True Type (TTF) barcode font package that is used to create a DataMatrix barcode by selecting a font in the text editor. The package includes a standalone encoder, a .Net Dynamic Link Library (for application integration) and a true type font for creating a DataMatrix barcode that strictly adheres to the industry specifications ISO/IEC 16022:2006 (ECC200).
DataMatrix is a two-dimensional matrix symbology made up of square modules arranged in a square or rectangle shaped pattern. This barcode is capable of packing large amount of data and has the capability of recovering the original data encoded even when it is partially damaged through an error correction technique. The DataMatrix barcode is composed of solid adjacent patterns known as the finder patterns in L-shape for locating and orienting the symbol.

Software development kit aids users in creating pure HTML barcode without using images
ConnectCode is proud to announce the release of a HyperText Markup Language (HTML) and Javascript barcode generation Software Development Kit (SDK). The SDK creates commonly-used one-dimensional barcodes like Code 128, Code39, UPCA, EAN13 and many others using pure HTML and can be used in a wide variety of browsers without additional browser plug-ins.
The SDK does not employ the use of graphics image. Instead, it uses pure HTML tags for generating and printing the barcodes. ConnectCode's new barcode font now supports GS1 Databar
ConnectCode Pte Ltd is pleased to announce a new barcode font package (v5.0) that supports the GS1 Databar family of barcodes. The GS1 Databar is a family of barcodes based on the ISO/IEC 24724:2006 specifications to be used with the UCC/EAN system. The barcode is intended for encoding the identification numbers of items and their supplementary data. It is more compact and can carry more information than the current EAN/UPC barcode and is thus capable of identifying small items more easily.
The release of the font package is in line with the GS1 mandate for all trade-item scanning systems to achieve the capability to read GS1 DataBar bar codes and GS1 Application Identifier System by January 1, 2010. This is also known as the GS1 global sunrise date.
The barcode fonts that are supported in the new package are as follows:
GS1 Databar 14 (formerly Reduced Space Symbology RSS14)

ConnectCode releases new version of MICR E13B Font for check printing
ConnectCode today announces a new version of MICR font used for check printing. This new font package includes true-type fonts, calibration fonts and postscript fonts.
MICR (Magnetic Ink Character Recognition) is a system that is widely used in the banking industry for check processing. The numbers typically found on the bottom of a check are usually printed in magnetic ink.
The system involves using a font and magnetic ink to print characters in a document. When this document needs to be decoded, it passes through a special machine or equipment, which translates the magnetic information into characters that can be processed by computer.
ConnectCode MICR font is based on E13B, a widely accepted industry standard in the US, Canada, Australia and many other countries. The character set of this standard comprises of ten numbers (0..9) and four special symbols(Amount, Domestic, BSB and Dash).

New version of ConnectCode's Barcode Fonts put barcodes into WPF applications.
ConnectCode Pte Ltd announces the release of its new version of barcode fonts that lets users integrate into WPF (Windows Presentation Foundation) projects. The trial version of the barcode font pack includes source code for two WPF projects that uses a new dynamic link library provided by ConnectCode.
ConnectCode allows the dynamic link library to be integrated and distributed freely for all licensed users of its Barcode Font Pack. It requires, however, the purchase of a Distribution License for the distribution of its Fonts.
ConnectCode's Font Pack is a modern product that includes support for both True Type fonts and Postscript Type 1 Binary fonts/ASCII fonts. It ships with a powerful Encoder that takes in raw data and converts them to a form that can be formatted as a barcode.
A special feature of the Encoder creates images out of the barcode fonts, while giving users flexibility in setting the resolution, dimensions and boundaries of the resulting bitmaps.
